About the Recipe

I first made this salad for a ladies luncheon. It was a huge hit and I've been making it ever since!

  • Tomatoes (cherry or sliced)

  • Cucumber (sliced or diced)

  • Carrots (shredded or sliced)

  • Olives (optional)

Preparation

Instructions to Make a Basic Salad

  1. Gather Ingredients:

    • Fresh greens (e.g., lettuce, spinach, arugula)

    • Vegetables (e.g., tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots)

    • Optional add-ins (e.g., cheese, nuts, seeds)

    • Dressing (e.g., olive oil, vinegar, store-bought dressing)

  2. Wash the Greens:

Rinse the fresh greens under cold water to remove any dirt or pesticides. Spin dry in a salad spinner or pat dry with a clean towel.

  3. Chop the Vegetables:

Dice or slice the vegetables into bite-sized pieces. You can vary the size and shape for visual appeal.

  4. Combine Ingredients:

In a large salad bowl, add the washed greens and chopped vegetables. If using, sprinkle cheese, nuts, or seeds on top.

  5. Add Dressing:

Drizzle your chosen dressing over the salad. Start with a small amount; you can always add more later.

  6. Toss the Salad:

Using salad tongs or your hands, gently toss the salad to evenly coat the ingredients with the dressing.

  7. Serve:

Plate the salad and enjoy it immediately for the best flavor and texture.
