Preparation
Instructions to Make a Basic Salad
Gather Ingredients:
Fresh greens (e.g., lettuce, spinach, arugula)
Vegetables (e.g., tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots)
Optional add-ins (e.g., cheese, nuts, seeds)
Dressing (e.g., olive oil, vinegar, store-bought dressing)
Wash the Greens:
Rinse the fresh greens under cold water to remove any dirt or pesticides. Spin dry in a salad spinner or pat dry with a clean towel.
Chop the Vegetables:
Dice or slice the vegetables into bite-sized pieces. You can vary the size and shape for visual appeal.
Combine Ingredients:
In a large salad bowl, add the washed greens and chopped vegetables. If using, sprinkle cheese, nuts, or seeds on top.
Add Dressing:
Drizzle your chosen dressing over the salad. Start with a small amount; you can always add more later.
Toss the Salad:
Using salad tongs or your hands, gently toss the salad to evenly coat the ingredients with the dressing.
Serve:
Plate the salad and enjoy it immediately for the best flavor and texture.
